On the sewing front, I am waiting for the batting for the wedding quilt to arrive. I ordered it through Amazon from a shop that is 35 miles away, because I got a better price than going there and picking it up. Well I found out their free shipping is "economy" shipping, and it has already been twice to the same nearby town and then out of state! Two days ago it was back to a local town and now it is "in transit to the next facility" and "will arrive later than expected". Oh well.
New pattern release by Brenda at Songbird Designs - isn't it pretty!
When I walked into my sewing room yesterday, I felt an excitement I had not felt for a very long time - the sewjo is back! So what did I do? In spite of owning one million patterns, I bought a new pattern by Brenda at Songbird Designs called Christmas Stars (it is on sale until 5/31/25!) Although I love it in Christmas colors, I first want to make it in patriotic colors - I started a pull this morning!
See my new pull-up bar! Gus is in the background cheering me on
New to the sewing room is a pullup bar - lol! I have thought about buying one of these since I first saw my (now married) grandson using one in his house in 2016. Yes it took me a long time to buy it! All I can do on it is hang for about 15 seconds and pull myself about 2 inches off the ground, but hey it's a start! I'm also doing the treadmill 4-5 days a week - trying to get more active!
I hope you are all having a happy and safe weekend!
Kudos to you for trying the pull up bar, my wrists would give out before I got very far! The peek into your sewing room looks wonderful! So glad to hear your sewing mojo has returned!
ReplyDeleteI’m very happy to hear you are once again excited about sewing! The patriotic colors will be great for that pattern. Good for you on the increased physical activity; it’s quite a challenge to maintain, but so worth it!
ReplyDeleteI know what it's like to lose your sewjo for a while. Glad it's back!
ReplyDeleteTrying to stay active - or become active in my case - is a challenge. Hopefully that travelling batting will arrive so you can finish that pretty quilt.
ReplyDeleteSo happy I could help get your sew-jo back, Linda! Looks like Gus is perfectly happy perched on your pull up bar! I really like that quilt you have on your wall currently and I look forward to seeing Christmas Stars in patriotic colors---Patriotic Stars!! Thanks for joining us at Monday Musings! It's great to have you back!
ReplyDeletePS: Thanks for sharing my pattern and Happy Memorial Day! I'm so grateful for those who gave their all for us.
ReplyDeleteThe issues with shipping are just crazy these days! I hope your batting arrives soon, so you can finish the wedding quilt. I love the star quilt, too. That looks like it will be fun to work on! The pull up bar is impressive - even 15 seconds sounds like a lot to me!
ReplyDeleteYay for the return of your sewjo!! The new quilt pattern is pretty and I look forward to seeing it in patriotic colors. I've been really good about getting my steps in around the lake but not good at all about any sort of resistance exercise. The pull up bar and the treadmill are a great combination.
ReplyDeleteOh that rainbow, the promise of things to come. Beautiful quilt! I’m sorry to hear about your shipping delay! I’m so glad your sewjo is back! Yes, Christas Stars will be lovely in red, white and blue! I’m so proud of your progress on the pull up bar! Yes, after the winter, it does feel good to get moving again! How I wish Chloe would allow Kitty to have some peace inside our home.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great set up you have next to the window with a cat bed above the machine giving your assistant the perfect vantage point to supervise your work any critter who dares to pass by the window.
ReplyDeleteYes I love looking out a window, and apparently so do my kitties. :D Thanks for visiting!
DeleteFinally it seems I can comment on your posts, Linda...something was amiss there for a while and I really don't have the skills to sort out why, sadly. We watched Friends and Neighbours and enjoyed it. Meanwhile, I'm thrilled you have your sewing mojo back!! And I can't get over you are trying the pull-up bar. It used to be part of the Canada fitness test years ago to see how long you could hold on. Yes sometimes just seconds but with practice it improves. So you go girl! And the treadmill too!
ReplyDeleteoh I love that pattern too. It will be great as patriotic. Also I need that pull-up bar. I’m trying my best to increase some activity mostly for my bone density but I’ve been thinking about a pull-up bar so if you really like it, would you send me the link so I can get this exact same one and I won’t mind at all, putting it on the door to my sewing room either! I’ve been wearing an 8 pound weighted vest to try to help with the bones and I still run in the house not so much outside anymore. Oh yeah, I had a bladder procedure that you may be interested in. I won’t go into details here, but I’m telling you it works! ☺️
ReplyDeleteOops I didn’t put my name. This is from Rachel, your friend in Tennessee!
ReplyDeleteIt’s so good to hear that your “sewjo” — I love that! — is back. Sometimes I think we really need to take some time off, and by that I mean A LOT of time off, in order to give ourselves a break and a chance to reset. I can’t tell you how many kits and patterns that I’m still buying even though I haven’t done much with those I already have.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful rainbow and view! The wedding quilt is lovely and so is Brenda's new pattern... oh my... a pull up bar??? I don't think I could get my toes off the ground!!! Good to see you blogging again! xx
ReplyDeleteYay for the Sewjo back!!! I am happy for your!! that will be gorgeous in patriotics - wow - great idea. Love the idea of a pull up bar.... hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteLate to the party, but I sure hope your batting has arrived by now, Linda! I love all the photos you posted! How's the pull-up bar coming along? I hope you have a happy and safe weekend.
ReplyDeleteI'm late to the party, too - very late (sorry!). Glad the sewing mojo is back, and I like the new project. My daughter has a bar similar to that, I hope it works well for you!
