This is the first block of the 2026 Block Of The Month hosted by Sherri at A Quilting Life, and you can find the pattern right here. I like the pace if a BOM - no stress and a month to get the block done! The block finishes at 12.5 inches, and I look forward to having a Christmas quilt done in December.
I used Moda's Peppermint Bark, a layer cake I treated myself to for Christmas. The collection isfrom Basic Grey, one of my all time favorite designers.
Four inches+ of sleet, 12°, wind, and drifts will keep us in for a couple days!
My Hubby hurt his back trying to remove a hard-packed sleet drift outside our patio door. You see how far he got before he had to groan his way to the sofa with a bottle of Aleve and a heat pad. Poor guy!
We won't be venturing out until at least Tuesday, when the temperature is supposed to get above freezing. We are very thankful to our power did not go out!

we didn't get that much sleet by far - some is on top of the snow but we only got about 3 inches of snow total and it did sleet in the night but not like that - pretty block that you made.
ReplyDeleteMy son lives in Austin, TX and we've been touch with him about the snow, too. I know you are higher up in the states, and in comparing the two sets of photos, got much more snow than he did! I love your QAL from Sherri. I did hers last year and love my quilt! (PS: I signed in properly, but Blogger is giving me fits today. This is Elizabeth, and I'm putting another comment on here from the SAHRR.)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! That snow!!!!!!! Poor hubby, I think it's a good idea to stay inside!! Praying that the power doesn't go out... Love your block and the fabric you are using! xx
ReplyDeleteOh my that is a lot of snow! Your poor hubby; I do hope that he feels better very soon and did not strain a muscle. Stay warm and cozy, Linda. Your block is just beautiful. Such fun fabrics you are using too. Hugs and Blessings.
ReplyDeletewow, been wondering about your weather. Poor guy with his back. That's not an easy task shoveling icy snow...Hope he feels better soon. Always enjoy seeing your quilting and now you have a few days where you have to stay in so you'll probably get a lot done unless the cats crave your attention...lol..they are so cute. And we here in the mountains have no snow!!! I'm loving it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Sandy! Yes he always overdoes things, it's just what he does. ;) I have been really mystified by the weather patterns this year - your state has gotten so much rain but no snow in the mountains, so strange.
DeleteI’m glad you got the January block made—it’s very pretty! Maybe we can inspire each other to stick with it! LOL. That snow is pretty, but I’m sorry your husband hurt is back. I pray it melts soon!
ReplyDeleteI hope your hubby feels better fast! That's a lot of snow for Texas.
ReplyDeleteI hope your hubby is feeling better today. Yucky weather for you for sure, so many got hit with this storm. I think we are very lucky to not have been in it. Love that red snowflake fabric in your pretty block.
ReplyDeleteYou picked a fun fabric palette to play with. Your first block looks great. Hope your guy is feeling much better. A hurting back is no fun at all.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty block, Linda! I love that layer cake, especially the Christmas tree print. That is a lot of snow and cold for you guys! Pretty to look at, but not so fun to go out in. I hope your hubby's back is better - that snow can be so hard on the back. We woke up to negative 10 degrees this morning - hope it warm up a lot today!
ReplyDeleteHubster kinked his back shoveling. Our neighbor came over and used their snow blower to finish the job. Hope your hubby feels better. Love the block!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your hubby's back. I hope that the pain has diminished. While it is awful outside, it makes a perfect day for sewing. Thanks for sharing in Sew & Tell
