Swapping rooms last month shifted my focus and tapped my energy, but what a joy to be back in my happy place. Here is a look at a diversion and ongoing projects:
Disappearing Four-Patch Diversion
A little doll quilt for granddaughter Delaney, being modeled by Marvin
Bari J, who is one of Art Gallery's fabric designers, had a disappearing four-patch quilt on her Instagram post, and I found instructions on her blog. It is quite a simple little pattern, made by taking two 4-patch blocks and sewing outer seams together, then cutting on the diagonal to make quarter square triangles. The resulting units are arranged and sewn together. I used some fat quarters from Sea Cookies Island Batiks, which I won in a giveaway from Brenda at Songbird Designs - aren't they pretty!
Doll quilt for youngest granddaughter measures 22-1/2" x 22-1/2"

This is Bari's version - I love her colors
Rainbow Scrap Challenge (RSC) Blocks
Completed snowball blocks and nine-patch blocks in March reds and April pinks. I am making a dozen of the RSC color along with a dozen snowball units each month.
Blocks so far - I accidentally made two March blocks!
Today I am working on Melva's Little House blocks. The blocks are really cute, and I love picking out fabric for each one. It takes me a long time to pick out fabrics for the log cabin frame!
I will be adding to the links below during the week:
Melva's Sew and Tell which is being hosted by Patricia this week!

Sometimes mixing things up a bit does stir the creative juices. I love that little quilt with the teddy bear. How adorable! Your family is so lucky to get all of the quilts that they do. I remember as a little girl having a pieced quilt in, I think, the wedding ring pattern that my grandmother had made. I used the heck out of it and it became a bit tatty with age. I don’t know what happened to that quilt. I guess my mother got rid of it. Boy, would I love to have that today.
ReplyDeleteYou've been busy, Linda - and such pretty projects! I love the doll quilt for your granddaughter - I went and looked at the tutorial to make the quarter square blocks and that looks like fun to do. Looks like you got all caught up on your RSC blocks, too. The BOM blocks are so pretty - love the Christmas prints! Have fun with the Little House blocks - they are time consuming, but yours are turning out just great!
ReplyDeleteYou definitely made the most of the sewing room relocation! Lots of pretty projects in the works. The doll quilt is adorable. Happy stitching this week.
ReplyDeleteWow, I'm tired just reading about all you have been doing. You are truly enjoying your new sewing room. I love that you used a family heirloom inside your granddaughter's doll quilt. Such a treasure!
ReplyDeleteWell now that is one adorable doll quilt.I am sure your dear granddaughter will enjoy it. How sweet and special that you used a receiving blanket from your Mom as batting. It makes it even more special. Happy belated birthday to Delaney. They grow up way too fast. Don't they? I wish you a lovely week, Linda. You have a lot of pretties on the design wall to keep you busy. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty little quilt for your grandaughter and great work on your RSC blocks. Looks like you have been busy busy. xx
ReplyDeleteAwww, what a cute teddy with his little quilt. You have been really giving your new space a workout! So many pretty projects! I’m a little jealous of your progress on the Quilting Life BOM, as I seem to be stalled out on it. I need to complete March and April. Thanks for sharing your progress!
ReplyDeletethose are cute little quilts and you have so many others out - good to get back in the sewing room isn't it. I didn't get much in mine for two days! today maybe? or should I say tonight
ReplyDeleteI just love seeing your color schemes!!! Oh my on your RSC, I am happy with just doing 2 of my Sashed D9P blocks. LOL I guess having to make so many of the Posh Blocks last year cured me of too many blocks.
ReplyDeleteI love your quick 4 patch, and this is the second blog talking to me about disappearing blocks. Maybe it is time to revisit for some quick quilts!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute quilt for the teddy bear! I so love Disappearing Nine Patches! I'll have to try the same with four patches! I love the story behind your batting. That is really special. Your RSC quilt will be so pretty with those snowball quilts. Happy stitching to you! Thank you for linking up to Sew and Tell!
ReplyDeleteYou're really truckin' along on your 9-patch/snowballs, Linda! I would never have guessed that was a disappearing 4-patch. Sweet use of the receiving blanket, too.
ReplyDeleteI'd say your sewing mojo was back! What a lot of progress! Changing rooms was just the ticket!--TerryK@OnGoingProjects
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Terry - yes it is back!
DeleteOh ya - you are back in action!! ALl your RSC's are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun little quilt, and the model is TOO cute!!
I am sew happy to hear your mojo has returned and you are loving your new room! That's an adorable little disappearing four-patch quilt, Linda. And I LOVE your RSC blocks. You're doing well to make 10 of each each month. I can barely get my one of each in! LOL After I finish this big quilt for our show I will be able to focus on other projects more. Of course, right now I'm having a blast with these cute cows! Your package is finally on its way to you. Sorry for the delay but I had to wait for the mailers to get here. Thanks for sharing with us at Monday Musings. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteMarvin might want you to make a quilt for him now. He looks so cute and cosy under that beautiful quilt. The quilt must have made your granddaughter very happy. Such a great idea to use the blanket inside the quilt. I loved it when my grandmother made dresses for my doll.
